Although the rear woofer on the U7S looks different to that on last year’s U7Q, we didn’t hear major changes in the sound itself. Once again it’s a 2.1 system with a combined output of 40 W, which sounds quite pleasant for this class of TV. The additional bass speaker gives the sound a bit more body, so the whole thing doesn’t sound as flat as basic stereo setups. However, it isn’t a deep, powerful bass that would replace a separate subwoofer. For everyday viewing this setup is perfectly adequate, although you may find it lacking with action films and music. A plus is support for Dolby Atmos and DTS formats, including DTS. It should be noted that on the built-in speakers Atmos works with Dolby Digital Plus tracks, whereas in our test it did not work with the Dolby TrueHD-based version.
