Hisense is increasingly entering the UST projector segment, and the latest model, PT1 Triple Laser Cinema, demonstrates that it is possible to combine excellent image quality with a reasonable price. This is equipment that will allow you to create a home cinema without the need to spend a fortune.
Ultra Short Throw with great flexibility
PT1 is an ultra-short-throw projector, which means you only need to place it a few centimetres from the wall or screen to get an image from 80 to even 150 inches. An ideal solution for the living room, where there isn't always space for a traditional ceiling-mounted projector.
Image and colours better than in many TVs
Hisense promises 2,500 ANSI lumens – in practice, this means comfortable watching of films during the day, as long as we close the curtains. Additionally, it features as much as 110% coverage of the BT.2020 colour palette, which means colours are more vivid and accurate than in many televisions. The contrast of 3,000:1 ensures that both bright and dark scenes will be full of detail.
System and support for the latest formats
The version for the British market runs on the VIDAA U7.6 system, while in the USA – on Google TV, which means it could be one of the first projectors with built-in Gemini artificial intelligence (though this is yet unconfirmed). It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced, and in terms of audio, we will find Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with built-in 46 W speakers (with upward-facing speakers).
AI, movie mode and gaming at 240 Hz
There are plenty of intelligent solutions on board: DLP pixel shifting, 4K AI Upscaler and Filmmaker Mode for film purists. MEMC improves motion smoothness, making it suitable for both sports and gaming. Speaking of gaming – HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM and input lag of 12 ms are features that will satisfy even the most demanding gamers.
The projector supports Google Assistant (for now) and Alexa, has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet and USB ports. It also supports Control4, so it can be integrated into a smart home system.
Price that impresses
The biggest surprise? Hisense PT1 starts at £1,999 (approx. $2,999 in the USA), but it can be purchased for as little as £1,699 during promotions. This price level positions it as one of the most competitive UST projectors on the market.
By comparison, the flagship model Hisense L9Q Laser TV costs as much as £4,000 (approx. $6,000), offering a brighter image (5,000 ANSI lumens) and a larger format of up to 200 inches, but for most people, the price difference is crucial.
