It concerns the so-called “Jennifer English effect”, or the theory among fans that games featuring Jennifer English have a remarkable tendency to gain enormous popularity and awards. The actress has appeared in hits such as Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – productions that have indeed dominated their years. It is this “common denominator” that has led players to regard her involvement as a kind of mark of quality.
Will Marathon benefit from this too?
During a panel at the industry event, Starr jokingly stated that since this "rule" works, Marathon has a good chance of success. Of course, reality is more complex – in the race for GOTY, gameplay, quality of execution, and player reception matter. Especially since Grand Theft Auto VI is looming on the horizon, which could dominate the entire year.
