RedMagic has unveiled a new gaming monitor that may interest both fans of high picture quality and esports players. The unit offers 5K resolution, a refresh rate of up to 330 Hz and as many as 5,184 Mini LED local dimming zones. The manufacturer also claims a peak HDR brightness of 1,400 nits!
The monitor features a Mini LED backlight with 5184 independently controlled dimming zones. It allows more precise control over the brightness of individual areas of the image, improving contrast and reducing halo around bright objects. RedMagic has also adopted backlight scanning technology, which is designed to reduce motion blur and improve the sharpness of moving objects.
5K and 180 Hz or 2K and 330 Hz? The choice is up to the gamer
The monitor offers two operating modes, letting the user decide whether they prioritise detail or smoothness of the image. At 5K the panel runs at 180 Hz, while switching to 2K raises the refresh rate to 330 Hz. This setup can work well for both visually impressive games and fast-paced esports titles. The manufacturer has also used a slim aluminium housing with a flat back and a transparent decorative element.
How much does the new RedMagic monitor cost?
The device was unveiled on 15 October during the launch of the RedMagic 12 Pro+ smartphone. Chinese sales are set to begin in December 2026, and the price will be 6,499 yuan, or about 3,800 zł. This is not the brand’s first monitor with more than 5,000 dimming zones. The earlier GM001S offered 5,088 of them, but only ran at up to 4K and 160 Hz.
So far the new screen’s diagonal and details on its availability in Europe have not been revealed. The claimed HDR specifications also await independent verification.
