YouTube Premium Lite with a major update. It finally makes sense.

Calendar 2/25/2026

Until recently, YouTube Premium Lite in Poland looked like a heavily stripped-down option with few benefits. Now, Google is making changes that genuinely increase the value of the cheapest package.

Background Playback and Offline Downloading

The most important new feature is the ability to play videos in the background on phones and tablets. This is a function that has been missing previously and was one of the main reasons users opted for the more expensive plan. Additionally, Premium Lite now allows downloading videos to device storage for offline viewing. This option will be useful when travelling or in areas with limited connectivity. However, there are exceptions. The changes do not include Shorts or music content, including official music videos.

Fewer ads, but not a total absence

Google has also announced a reduction in the number of ads as part of Premium Lite. They will not disappear completely, but will appear less frequently. According to information provided by YouTube, ads will not be displayed among others in content related to games, fashion, beauty, or news. They may still appear in music content, Shorts, and during searches. This is a compromise, but at this price, it may be sufficient for many users. The current prices for YouTube Premium in Poland are as follows: YouTube Premium Lite – 17.99 PLN per month, Student Plan – 18.99 PLN per month, YouTube Premium – 29.99 PLN per month, YouTube Premium Family – 59.99 PLN per month. Premium Lite still does not include access to YouTube Music Premium. In this regard, nothing has changed.

YouTube Premium Lite is no longer just a symbolic "lighter" plan. Background playback, offline downloads and limited ads mean that for 17.99 PLN per month, we receive much more than before. For those who do not need YouTube Music, this version may become the most cost-effective choice.
