The accessory market is getting interesting. The company CRKD has presented a new controller that could cause quite a stir upon the release of the Switch 2. The Ult Pro model aims to offer more options than the official controller from Nintendo, and at a lower price.
Controller full of options and personalisation
The new Ult Pro focuses on complete control over settings. The player can change button assignments, save profiles, and customise trigger actions on the fly. Additionally, there are interchangeable components and an app that allows management from a mobile phone. However, the biggest distinguishing feature is the components. The controller uses Hall effect sensors and analogs resistant to drift, which are still lacking in official Nintendo pads.
Ult Pro is said to offer more functions than the official controller for Switch 2, while being cheaper. It supports not only the new console but also the older Switch and PC. On a computer, it can operate with a very high polling rate, which will be appreciated by players focused on fast response. The package also includes a docking station, which serves as a charger and stand.
Does Nintendo have anything to fear?
This is not the first time that third-party companies have offered better accessories than console manufacturers. However, in this case, the differences are really quite noticeable. If Ult Pro lives up to its promises, it could become one of the most popular controllers for the Switch 2 and a genuine alternative to official solutions.
CRKD shows that the market for console accessories can still surprise. Ult Pro looks like a serious competitor to the Nintendo controller, especially for more demanding gamers. Now it all depends on how it performs in practice after its release.
