It might seem that in 2026, all eyes in the gaming world will be focused solely on the new generation; however, Sony has not forgotten about PlayStation 4 owners. On 28th January 2026, a system software update designated as version 13.04 debuted. This is important as it shows that the Japanese manufacturer still cares about the security and stability of hardware that launched over a decade ago. The update appeared at the same time as a new version of the software for PS5.
Official List of Changes – What Does Update 13.04 Bring for PS4?
As with previous versions in the 13.xx series, Sony has not opted to introduce revolutionary features. According to official information, the update focuses on technical aspects.

Although the console no longer receives new exclusive features, regular security patches allow for safe use of online services such as the PlayStation Store and multiplayer gaming.
