Sony has officially unveiled a new version of its unusual cooling gadget. The Reon Pocket Pro Plus is a portable "air conditioner" worn under clothing, designed to cool the body more effectively during hot weather and everyday use.
Sony enhances its portable cooling system
The new model utilises the Peltier effect, which is a special electrically-cooled plate placed at the back of the neck. Sony explains that this is the point where cooling the body is most felt due to the blood flow being close to the surface of the skin. According to the manufacturer, the Reon Pocket Pro Plus offers even 2 degrees Celsius better cooling compared to the previous generation. The company has also improved the temperature control algorithms, which analyse ambient conditions and the temperature of the device itself to regulate cooling more effectively.
Better fit and up to 10 hours of operation
Sony has maintained the distinctive design worn under the shirt at the back, but has improved the stability of the device on the neck and shoulders. This means the equipment is less likely to shift while walking or moving. An automatic overheating protection has also been added. The set includes a new second-generation Pocket Tag that monitors temperature and humidity in the environment. The device also works with a mobile application, although many functions operate without the need to use the phone. On a single charge, the Reon Pocket Pro Plus is designed to work for up to 10 hours.
Sony is developing its unusual idea for a portable air conditioner worn under clothing. The Reon Pocket Pro Plus offers stronger cooling, longer battery life, and improved fit, and the company is increasingly promoting the device as a practical gadget for hot weather.
