Samsung introduces the first 6K monitor, high resolution and gaming mode

Calendar 4/30/2026

Samsung officially launches its first 6K monitor, the Samsung G80HS, which aims to meet the growing demands of both gamers and professionals. The device has been priced at around 1500 euros and will soon be available for sale in Europe, and later in other regions. The new screen measures 32 inches and targets the premium segment, offering not only very high resolution but also great flexibility in applications. This is another step in the development of the monitor market, where 6K is slowly beginning to move beyond a niche.

6K mode and 330 Hz in one device

The biggest curiosity is the so-called dual-mode, which allows the user to choose between maximum image quality and extreme fluidity. At a full resolution of 6144 × 3456, the monitor offers a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz, which is impressive for 6K by itself. Alternatively, you can switch to a lower resolution of 3K, where the frequency increases to as much as 330 Hz, making it attractive for gamers focused on speed and responsiveness. The monitor supports image synchronisation technologies such as FreeSync and G-Sync, which further enhance gameplay fluidity. This means the device can serve a dual role as both a tool for working with graphics or code and an advanced gaming monitor.

There are compromises, it is still IPS

Despite impressive specifications, the monitor is not without its limitations. The IPS panel, although it offers good colour reproduction and wide viewing angles, cannot match OLED screens in terms of contrast or HDR quality. While the device supports HDR10+, the lack of local dimming means that the HDR effect will be limited. Therefore, it is not equipment for those seeking the absolute best image quality, but rather a compromise between resolution, smoothness, and functionality.

Samsung G80HS shows that 6K is starting to enter the more mainstream segment, combining high resolution with features for gamers. This is an interesting proposition for those who want one monitor for multiple uses.
