For the last few months, some users have felt that Nvidia has completely given up on the development of its Shield TV device. There have been no new models, the system is stuck on Android 11, and new competing devices are popping up like mushrooms after rain. Meanwhile, the manufacturer – somewhat quietly – continues to roll out a series of smaller updates. And we have just received another one.
The update Shield Experience 9.2.2 is hitting devices right now, and although it doesn’t bring any spectacular changes, it does resolve a few real issues that have been troublesome for users. The most important fix? Audio bug fixes in Disney+, which have been a nuisance for quite some time.
In practice, version 9.2.2 replaces update 9.2.1 from May 2025, which added, among other things, support for GeForce Now at 1080p at 120 fps, as well as several other enhancements. However, there is still a lack of any leaks regarding a new Shield model. This is particularly strange since Nintendo has already released the Switch 2 – based on the same hardware platform that Shield TV has been using for years. In other words – the hardware is aging, but at least updates are still alive.

Fixed Issues
Issue with disappearing sound in Disney+.
Nvidia Shield isn't receiving new system features, isn't upgrading to a newer Android version, and still operates on a very old SoC – but it is still being updated, which in itself is already a rarity in the world of Android TV boxes. Shield Experience 9.2.2 is a typical "maintenance update", but if you use Disney+ – you'll notice the difference right away.
