Ubisoft may be preparing a surprise for fans of The Division series. Although work on The Division 3 was officially confirmed recently, everything suggests that the French publisher does not intend to wait to remind everyone about the brand until the release of the fully-fledged sequel.
The Division 3 confirmed, but we'll have to wait for its release
In recent days, Ubisoft officially announced that The Division 3 is in production. At the same time, the developers made it clear that the project is at a very early stage of development, and players should not expect a release in the coming years. However, this does not mean that the franchise will be put on the shelf for a long time. On the contrary – Ubisoft is apparently looking for ways to keep interest in the universe alive.
Mysterious banner at FPSDay Japan
During the FPSDay Japan event, where Ubisoft organised an e-sports tournament, players noticed something particularly intriguing. A banner appeared in the public space with the inscription The Division: Definitive Edition. Such a title had never been announced or even mentioned by the publisher before, which immediately sparked a wave of speculation on social media.
What could The Division: Definitive Edition be?
The community quickly began to wonder what the "definitive edition" of The Division could actually be. Among the most frequently suggested theories are:
a refreshed version of the first The Division with technical improvements
a bundle containing The Division and The Division 2 along with their expansions
a special edition of one of the installments prepared for Nintendo Switch 2
At this time, none of these options have been confirmed by Ubisoft.
A new mode for The Division 2 mixes things up
To complicate matters further, during FPSDay Japan, Ubisoft actually showcased a new gameplay mode for The Division 2. This raises questions about whether the banner announces a separate project or was merely an element of the marketing flair for the event. The lack of an official comment from the publisher only fuels speculation.
Ubisoft is not revealing its cards yet
At this moment, it is difficult to definitively state whether The Division: Definitive Edition is a random graphic, a working title, or an actual announcement of a project that will soon be officially revealed. One thing is for sure – the brand The Division is starting to attract attention again, and Ubisoft clearly does not intend to let the series disappear from players' radars.
