iPhone 20 may be record-expensive, Apple is preparing significant changes

Apple is preparing one of the biggest changes in the history of the iPhone, but everything suggests that users may pay dearly for it. According to the latest reports, the iPhone 20 model is set to introduce a completely new design with a curved screen on every side, creating an almost bezel-less effect. The problem is that such technology is expensive to produce, and additionally, the component market, especially memory, is beginning to pose more and more challenges.

Exclusive OLED and Rising Costs

The biggest challenge for Apple appears to be the display. All indications suggest that only Samsung will be able to supply the appropriate OLED panels of such advanced design. This exclusivity means higher component prices – much like during the iPhone X era, when Apple had to pay significantly more for displays. Now the situation may repeat itself, or even worsen, as quad-curved technology is even more demanding. Additionally, there is the rising cost of RAM, which constitutes an increasingly larger portion of the overall device price. As a result, Apple may have limited manoeuvring room when it comes to keeping the price at a reasonable level.

Shortages and Premium Strategy

An additional problem is the potential shortage of DRAM memory, which could further drive up production costs. Apple is therefore faced with a choice: either reduce margins or pass on costs to customers. Looking at the company's current strategy, the latter scenario seems more likely. The new design and features could be used as a justification for introducing an even higher price and positioning the iPhone 20 as an ultra-premium product. For many users, this could mean that the new model will simply be out of reach.

The iPhone 20 is set to be a technological breakthrough, but it may also become one of the most expensive Apple smartphones in history. The new screen and issues with components could significantly impact the final price of the device.
