They believe that the merger of giants will lead to a situation where the number of the largest film studios in the USA will shrink to just a few players. This could mean fewer projects, less work, and greater control over which stories make it to the screen. It is also worth remembering that the film market has already changed; today streaming platforms play a huge role, and the traditional division into a few big studios does not fully reflect reality.
