Grounded 2 is receiving a massive update and introducing the largest boss in the game's history.

Calendar 4/15/2026

Obsidian Entertainment releases one of the biggest updates to Grounded 2 and does so with a bang. The Beat the Heat update not only expands the game's content but, most importantly, introduces a completely new level of challenge. Players can look forward to a massive boss, new combat mechanics, system advancements, and fresh locations to explore. This is precisely the kind of update that can draw back even those who have long put the game down.

King Dozer changes the rules of the battle

The biggest attraction of the update is undoubtedly King Dozer, a gigantic lizard inspired by fantasy dragons. He is the largest boss to appear in the series and one of the most demanding opponents. However, the creators did not take a classic approach to the fight; instead, they focused on interaction with the environment, which becomes crucial for survival. The battle arena is extremely hot, and the boss himself gains strength in high temperatures. Players must therefore not only avoid attacks but also actively cool down the surroundings to weaken the opponent and increase their chances. This is a completely new type of clash in Grounded 2 that requires a different approach to strategy and preparation. Moreover, defeating King Dozer unlocks unique equipment inspired by knightly armour, as well as new items for the base.

New systems and more reasons to return

The Beat the Heat update is, however, more than just one boss. The creators have expanded the Buggies system, meaning the player's companions can now develop and acquire new skills. As a result, they cease to be merely a means of transportation and become genuine support in combat and exploration. A new location, Sinkhole Anthill, full of dangers and unusual enemies whose behaviour can be surprising, is also introduced to the game. Additionally, there are smaller changes, balance adjustments, and new character-building possibilities, which together give the game a new lease of life. It is clear that Obsidian wants to develop Grounded 2 based on community feedback and gradually add more complex mechanics.

Beat the Heat is an update that shows that Grounded 2 is evolving into a more ambitious and challenging game, and King Dozer is the best evidence of this.
