Google Maps integrated with Gemini – a new era of intelligent navigation and voice control!

Calendar 11/6/2025

Google Maps gets the power of Gemini! The new AI integration makes navigation, voice control, and real-time place discovery easier – all hands-free while driving.

Google is introducing another major update to Maps, this time featuring the artificial intelligence Gemini. Thanks to it, the app is becoming not only a more accurate guide but also a true assistant on the road.

Ask, plan and respond – all without taking your hands off the wheel

While driving, you can now talk to Gemini and ask questions not only about the route but also about places along the way. The assistant will answer, for example:

“Is there an affordable restaurant with vegan options nearby?”

“What is the parking like at this location?”

Gemini can also add an event to the calendar, check sports news or help report a road incident. Maps will also automatically inform about disruptions on the route.

Navigation with a Human Touch

The new feature combines the capabilities of Gemini with Street View data. Instead of dry instructions like “turn right after 500 metres”, you’ll hear something more natural:

“Turn right at the Shell station” or “Exit at Denny’s restaurant”.

Google uses data from 250 million places and images from Street View to make the directions more intuitive and based on real landmarks.

Lens + Gemini = real-time world recognition

Another new feature is the integration with Google Lens. Simply point your phone’s camera at a building, restaurant or monument and ask:

“What is this place and why is it popular?”

The assistant will immediately respond using location data, ratings and user reviews.

When and where?

  • Traffic alerts – will first reach Android users in the USA.

  • Navigation with points of interest – also launching in the USA, on Android and iOS.

  • Lens with Gemini – will appear in the States at the end of the month.

  • Version for Android Auto – already on the way.

The new integration is a step towards a more conversational, contextual, and truly helpful navigation – one that not only guides but understands.
