Epson has just demonstrated that a home projector does not have to look like a grey office block. The Lifestudio Flex Special Lux Edition EF-73 model is a higher level of sophistication compared to the popular and currently available EF-72 model. This time, the engineers (and probably interior designers) have taken it a step further by creating a device that is meant to be the command centre for your bedroom.
Great design + 4K laser
This is not just another product made from cheap plastic. Epson has opted for materials that are more often found in luxury cars than in consumer electronics. The casing of the EF-73 includes tempered glass, suede finishes and anodised gold accents. According to official press information from Epson, the device in 'Night Black' is supposed to be aesthetically pleasing enough that it doesn’t need to be hidden away in a cupboard after a viewing. Instead, it is meant to proudly stand by the bedside, serving as... a designer bedside lamp, thanks to the built-in ambient lighting.
Qi, Bose and Google TV – a bedroom multifunctional device
What really makes the EF-73 rank higher than the basic EF-72? Apart from its appearance, the key feature is the "2 in 1" functionality. The top panel of the projector is a built-in Qi wireless charger, so by placing your phone on the projector before bed, you wake up to a full battery. When it comes to image quality, we get 4K with a 3LCD laser engine (up to 150 inches), and the sound experience is taken care of by a 10-watt speaker system . The whole thing is powered by Google TV, meaning you have everything from Netflix to YouTube at your fingertips.
Projection Studio Application
It is also worth mentioning the new application Projection Studio, which will debut alongside the projector. It will allow for collaborative, interactive creation of photo shows with a musical background straight from the phone. The equipment is set to hit the shelves in April 2026. The price remains a mystery, but since the standard EF-72 costs around 1300 dollars (which converts to about 5000zł), the "Lux" version will certainly require a thicker wallet.
