Death Stranding 2 on PC: Release tomorrow! New Wilder mode and Ray Tracing

Calendar 3/18/2026

In just 24 hours, on 19 March 2026, Death Stranding 2 will officially land on personal computers PC! On this occasion, the studio released a new trailer "No Rain, No Rainbow," which confirms that the PC version is not just a standard port, but also a substantial amount of new content that will also be available on the same day as a free update for PlayStation 5.

Hardcore mode and VR training

The most interesting new feature is the “to the wilder” mode. If the basic game was a walk in the park for you, then here Kojima challenges the most persistent. This is an extreme difficulty level where the environment is deadly and the opponents do not forgive mistakes. Importantly, once you set off on your journey in this mode, there is no going back – you must deliver the package to the end.

For those who want to hone their combat skills, a zone called “Trapped in a Strange Realm” has been added. This is VR training, where you can replay the most important battles of Sam (e.g., those with Neil). By completing them, you will unlock new items, such as unique bandanas. A “chiral cat” (Chiral Feline) will also be introduced to the game, which will visit us in the private room and will be available in photo mode.

Technical “meat”

The team at Nixxes Software is responsible for porting the game to PC, so we can be fairly confident about the optimisation. The game supports pretty much everything crucial from the start: Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS, including frame generation. If you have powerful hardware, you'll be able to enable Ray Tracing, which will enhance reflections on water and tar, as well as add more realistic shadows in corners. The game will support the 32:9 (Super-ultrawide) format, and the cutscenes will be displayed in 21:9 format. A really nice addition is full support for the DualSense controller – once you plug it into your PC with a cable, you'll experience haptic feedback and trigger resistance just like on a console.

As a little bonus, if you link your accounts, you will receive a special suit inspired by PlayStation colours and unique patches for your backpack. The premiere is tomorrow, so it’s worth checking if your graphics cards are ready for Sam's return.
