Crowds in cinemas for Avatar 3. A million viewers in Poland hit in an instant!

Calendar 12/30/2025

Avatar 3 is breaking attendance records in Polish cinemas. Avatar: Fire and Ash surpassed one million viewers in just two weekends, confirming the massive popularity of James Cameron’s saga.

Avatar 3 is not slowing down in Poland either. The new installment of James Cameron's saga is drawing huge crowds to cinemas and has quickly confirmed that the Avatar brand continues to resonate with audiences just as effectively as in previous instalments.

According to the Box Office Report data, Avatar: Fire and Ash was just a step away from surpassing the symbolic barrier of one million viewers after its second weekend. In just the second weekend of screenings, 404 thousand people went to the cinemas – a result that is 1.5% better than the opening weekend. By the end of Sunday, December 28, the film had gathered 989 thousand viewers, and everything indicates that the million mark was surpassed on Monday.

This is also confirmed by ticket revenues. As Radosław Koch notes on platform X, Avatar 3 has earned 8.16 million dollars in Poland, which perfectly matches the attendance of around one million viewers.

This result is not surprising, but it is incredibly impressive. One million viewers after the second weekend is an achievement that few titles could boast in 2025. Among a similar group were Good Home, Zootopia 2, The In-Laws 3, and Minecraft. Avatar once again proves that it is one of the few franchises capable of massively attracting audiences to cinemas – despite the growing popularity of streaming and the changing habits of viewers.

Global hit and a swift march to a billion

The film is also performing well worldwide. After a week in theatres, Avatar: Fire and Ash has amassed 761 million dollars globally. Forecasts suggest that crossing the billion dollar mark should occur by the third weekend of its showing.

What next for Avatar 4 and 5?

Although the financial results look very solid, James Cameron speaks cautiously about the future of the series. Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 already have scheduled release dates – respectively in December 2029 and 2031 – however, the director admits that nothing is set in stone yet. Cameron revealed that in case of cancelling the next films, he has a contingency plan:

– I don’t know if the saga will continue, but I hope so. Business-wise, we have proven time and again that it makes sense. However, if we can’t make the fourth and fifth parts, I will organise a press conference and tell everyone what we will do – announced the creator.

One of the ideas is to develop the story of Pandora in the form of books. However, Cameron admits that it is currently difficult to speak of a stable business model for such projects, especially in the American market, where, according to cited research, about 40% of adults read for pleasure.

– Regardless of everything, it would be good to have a canonical record of what we were supposed to do – emphasises the director.

For now, there is no decision. However, it is known that Cameron's next project will be a new Terminator. Work on the script is set to begin in early 2026.
