Microsoft is preparing a special edition of its current console to mark the 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand. The Xbox Series X25 will feature a distinctive translucent green casing that will let you see some of the device's components. The console is set to go on sale in November 2026, but according to the latest reports its price could be very high.

Xbox Series X25 will stand out with a transparent case and distinctive look

Xbox Series X25 was announced by Microsoft in early June as a special edition prepared to mark Xbox's 25th anniversary. The console and its included controller will feature a translucent green design that lets you peek inside the device. The look is completed by special "Xbox 25" markings meant to emphasise the hardware's collector appeal. Technically, don't expect a revolution, as the Xbox Series X25 is said to use the same components as the standard Xbox Series X.

Microsoft may also include a special system theme, among other things anniversary graphics in the console UI. The device's appearance remains the main attraction. Translucent consoles have a long history in the Xbox world, which is why Microsoft decided to use this theme again for the 25th anniversary. The set will also include a specially designed controller, although the company intends to sell extra units separately.

The Xbox Series X25 will cost more than the standard model

The price is likely to spark the most controversy. According to information obtained by Dealabs Magazine, the Xbox Series X25 is expected to cost €899.99 in Europe, which is €100 more than the standard Xbox Series X with a 1 TB drive. In the United States the price is said to be around $899, plus whatever state sales tax applies. That means you'll be paying a lot for the special edition, especially as it is not expected to offer a significant performance advantage over the regular Series X. So the high price will largely be for the device's unique look and collector appeal. Microsoft plans to launch the Xbox Series X25 in November 2026, which means the console could hit the market right in the holiday shopping period. The company has also confirmed the option to buy additional controllers separately, but their price has not yet been revealed. If the base package really does cost around €900, the Xbox Series X25 will mostly appeal to the brand's biggest fans and collectors, rather than to people looking for the best value for gaming.

Xbox Series X25 is a special edition of the Xbox Series X created for the brand’s 25th anniversary, featuring a semi‑transparent green case, anniversary markings and a special controller. Performance-wise it’s said to be virtually the same as the standard Series X, so its main value will be its unique, collectible look. According to the latest reports, the console will cost as much as €899.99 in Europe and about $899 in the US, which represents a significant premium over the regular model. Sales are set to begin in November 2026.
