Xbox is preparing a new event where we will see Project Helix and the future of consoles.

Microsoft has officially announced a new event for developers, which will take place on 7 May and may bring the first concrete information about the future of Xbox. Game Dev Update is set to be part of the company's new strategy, focused on opening up the platform and better supporting game creators. However, for gamers, the most interesting part of the program will be the presentation of Xbox Helix, which is the next generation of the console planned for 2027-2028.

Project Helix and the direction for PC

During the event, Microsoft is set to reveal further details regarding Project Helix, a project aimed at uniting the worlds of consoles and PC more than ever before. It has previously been suggested that future Xbox consoles will more strongly integrate solutions known from computers, such as enhanced support for DirectX and DirectStorage. Now we may see how this will look in practice and how it will affect game development. It's possible that Microsoft will also showcase changes in the Xbox Marketplace and new tools for developers designed to accelerate production and simplify the publication of titles.

Still more questions than answers

Despite the announcements, one should not expect a full specification or price for the new console. The event is rather technological in nature and is primarily aimed at developers rather than consumers. However, this does not mean that there will be a lack of interesting information; it is possible that Microsoft will reveal more about the future of game exclusivity and what the Xbox ecosystem will look like in the coming years.
