55-inch TVs – Test Rankings

Available screen sizes: 48”, 55”, 65”, 77”

Technology: QD-OLED

Brand: SAMSUNG

Verdict:

The Samsung S95H is, in almost every respect, a continuation of the S95F. During testing we often felt like we were watching the same TV. But... is that a bad thing? Not necessarily, because the predecessor set the bar very high. We still get a phenomenal picture and one of the best TVs we've tested in 2026. HDR packs a huge punch, and the colour and black levels make a good film really keep you g...

Available screen sizes: 55”

Technology: LCD IPS, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: PANASONIC

Verdict:

The W92C is the first Panasonic developed in collaboration with Skyworth that we've tested. And it's roughly the change we expected: a bit less of the old Panasonic, but also a few new things that work in its favour. Most welcome is the switch to Google TV. The system runs fast, gives access to the apps you need, and in daily use convinces us more than the previous Fire TV. Paired with a matte scr...

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: SONY

Verdict:

BRAVIA 6 can deliver a lot of viewing pleasure, especially in the evening when the advantages of the OLED panel are most visible. Deep blacks, good contrast and natural colours after calibration make it easy to appreciate its picture with the right material. It also performs well with consoles: it’s smooth and responds quickly to controller input. It’s nice to see four full HDMI 2.1 ports, a decis...

Available screen sizes: 50”, 55”, 65”

Technology: LCD VA, White LED

Brand: KIANO

Verdict:

The Kiano Elegance is primarily aimed at people who want to spend as little as possible on a TV while still having convenient access to popular apps. Using Tizen is a big plus here, because you get the system known from Samsung sets and don’t have to immediately buy a streaming stick or set-top box to watch movies or series. At a suitably low price, that could be reason enough to consider this mod...

Available screen sizes: 55”, 65”

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: PHILIPS

Verdict:

Philips OLED761 shows that the brand’s entry-level OLED can be a successful choice for watching films. It performs best in the evening, when perfect blacks and impressive HDR let you appreciate the strengths of this panel. After calibration, colour reproduction is very good, so it's hard to fault the picture during normal viewing. It doesn't always handle the brightest highlights in demanding HDR1...

Available screen sizes: 55”, 65”, 75”, 85”, 98”

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: TCL

Verdict:

Is the TCL A400U worth buying? Yes, because it's one of those TVs where paying extra for a higher-tier model doesn't always make sense. In movies you get what you'd expect from a good TV: very good blacks, punchy HDR and a natural-looking picture, especially after calibration. There's enough brightness for daytime viewing, although because of the glossy panel it's best not to place it opposite a l...

7.8/10

Available screen sizes: 43”, 50”, 55”, 65”, 75”, 85”

Technology: LCD VA, PFS LED

Brand: TCL

Verdict:

The TCL P7L is a solid budget TV that shows you can get more than just a basic screen for a relatively low price. It doesn't match pricier Mini-LEDs or OLEDs, but in its class it has plenty to offer. Its VA panel delivers decent blacks and contrast, so evening viewing doesn't look as flat as on many cheap IPS models. Colours also look good after calibration. For watching movies and TV shows it's a...

Available screen sizes: 50”, 55”, 65”, 75”, 85”, 100”

Technology: LCD VA, Mini-LED PFS LED

Brand: HISENSE

Verdict:

Hisense U7S is the latest iteration of the U7 series, whose biggest advantage remains its price-to-performance ratio. You get a Mini LED TV with local dimming, which genuinely improves black levels and gives the picture more depth for evening viewing. During the day a generous brightness reserve helps, so you don't have to rush to close the curtains. It's not a device without compromises, but as a...

Available screen sizes: 43”, 50”, 55”, 65”, 75”

Technology: LCD VA, PFS LED

Brand: PHILIPS

Verdict:

The idea behind The One series has remained practically unchanged for years, and with the Philips PQS9001 this is both an advantage and its biggest weakness. Once again, we get a versatile mid-range TV whose main distinguishing feature is Ambilight. The lighting that follows what is happening on the screen can completely change the atmosphere of an evening movie session, and for many people it wil...

Available screen sizes: 48”, 55”

Technology: WRGB OLED

Brand: PHILIPS

Verdict:

Philips OLED811 is a mid-range OLED for 2026 that stands out from its biggest rivals mainly for one thing: Ambilight. The light that follows the picture and spreads across the wall can change the mood of the whole viewing experience. In the evening the screen seems to extend beyond its frame and watching gains an extra bit of charm. For some it will be a pleasant extra, for others a decisive reaso...
