Valve confirms the release of Steam Machine in 2026. Delays are possible, however.

Valve still plans to launch Steam Machine

Company Valve has once again confirmed that its new console-computer Steam Machine will hit the market in 2026. However, in recent days, there have been speculations suggesting a possible delay in the release of the device, mainly due to issues in the global supply chain of components. According to representatives from Valve, the company’s plans have not changed, and the device is still set to debut next year. Doubts arose after a post on the company's official blog, where Valve used the phrase "we hope to ship in 2026." For some industry observers, this indicated the possibility of postponing the launch. Valve's spokesperson, Kaci Aitchison Boyle, explained to the media that nothing has changed, and the project is still being developed as planned.

RAM Memory Issues in the Technology Industry

One of the factors that may affect equipment availability is the global shortage of RAM. In recent months, a large portion of production has been going to data centres supporting artificial intelligence, which limits the availability of components for consumer hardware manufacturers. Supply issues with memory have already impacted the availability of other devices from the company, such as the Steam Deck OLED.

According to the information disclosed so far, the new Steam Machine will resemble a compact gaming computer designed for the living room. The hardware is expected to offer, among other things:

16 GB of DDR5 memory
8 GB of GDDR6 graphics memory
an operating system based on SteamOS
full integration with the Steam platform

The device is expected to enable running PC games in a fashion similar to traditional consoles.

New devices in the Valve ecosystem

Valve plans to launch not just the Steam Machine itself. There is also a new VR device in preparation called Steam Frame and a controller designed to work with this hardware. The company announces that more details regarding the release, price, and availability will appear in the coming months.

Although there have been speculations about a possible delay, Valve assures that the Steam Machine is still set to debut in 2026. However, issues with RAM availability may affect the exact release date and initial availability of the device.
