The Witcher 4 with a massive graphical leap. The new NVIDIA technology will change the look of the game.

Calendar 3/11/2026

The upcoming game The Witcher 4 from CD Projekt Red is set to offer a massive leap in graphic quality thanks to new technology developed by NVIDIA. According to the latest information, the production will utilise the RTX Mega Geometry system, which allows for the rendering of significantly more complex scenes in games with ray tracing. The technology is expected to enable the creation of incredibly detailed locations, particularly in large open worlds such as forests or cities.

What is RTX Mega Geometry

RTX Mega Geometry is a solution designed to handle very complicated geometry in scenes that utilise ray tracing. In modern open world games, a single location can contain millions of objects ranging from trees and plants to rocks, buildings, or environmental elements. NVIDIA's new technology allows for the processing of a massive number of polygons in a more efficient way. As a result, the game can display more details without a significant drop in performance. According to available information, this system can increase the number of displayed polygons by several times, while also improving smoothness and reducing VRAM usage in some cases.

During the presentation, NVIDIA showcased scenes featuring very dense forests filled with detailed vegetation. Environments like this are expected to be one of the main beneficiaries of RTX Mega Geometry. In the case of The Witcher 4, this means the ability to create even more realistic landscapes with a large number of trees, plants, and natural elements.

New game engine

The Witcher 4 is being developed on Unreal Engine 5, which is a big change for CD Projekt Red. The studio's previous games were created on their own REDengine. The new engine is expected to allow developers to accelerate game development and utilise modern graphic technologies, such as ray tracing and advanced lighting systems. Although work on the game has been ongoing for several years, CD Projekt Red has not yet announced an official release date. According to earlier information, the production is set to be the first part of a new trilogy in the world of The Witcher. Many indications suggest that the game will not be released before 2027.

The use of RTX Mega Geometry technology could make The Witcher 4 one of the most visually advanced games in the history of the series. The combination of Unreal Engine 5 with NVIDIA's new solutions may allow creators to build an even more detailed and realistic world. However, players will still have to wait a bit longer for the first effects of this technology.
