The Mandalorian and Grogu are back. The first trailer for the film shown at the Super Bowl.

Calendar 2/9/2026

During the Super Bowl, a promotional material for the film Star Wars The Mandalorian and Grogu was shown, however, it's hard to call it a proper cinematic trailer. The short clip mainly focused on creating an atmosphere and recognizable characters rather than presenting new quality or specific information about the plot. For many viewers, it was more of a symbolic announcement of the brand's return than an actual launch of the promotional campaign. Nevertheless, the choice of the Super Bowl as the premiere venue shows how significant the film return of the Mandalorian and Grogu is for Disney.

Mandalorian and Grogu Lack Wow Factor at Super Bowl

The spot is very short and doesn’t reveal much of the film itself, making it hard to talk about a sense of great adventure or a clear wow factor. There’s a lack of specific scenes and a clear stake that could ignite the fans' imagination and clearly show that we are dealing with a major cinematic event. For many viewers, it was a disappointment, especially since the Super Bowl is often a place for truly spectacular trailer premieres. However, it's worth remembering that the path to the film's creation was unusual and full of changes. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni had a completed script for the fourth season of the series ready by early 2023, but the Hollywood strikes significantly delayed further work. During this hiatus, Lucasfilm changed its strategy and decided on a cinematic film, which was officially announced in January 2024, and filming was completed by the end of the same year.

The premiere of the film Star Wars The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled for 22 May, and the production aims to bring popular characters from the series to the big screen. Although the first teaser was sparse on details, the cinematic debut of the Mandalorian and Grogu is shaping up to be an important moment for the entire franchise.
