The market for TVs that also serve as interior decoration is becoming increasingly competitive. After the success of Samsung's The Frame series, other manufacturers are developing their own designs of this type. TCL has just announced three new models in its Nxtvision range, which are designed to marry an elegant look with modern technological solutions. The biggest new feature is the use of Mini-LED backlighting in the two higher-end models. Thanks to this, the TVs are expected to deliver significantly better picture quality than the previous generation. The manufacturer hopes the new models will appeal to both cinema enthusiasts and people looking for a stylish addition to their living room.
Mini-LED and an art gallery aim to set the Nxtvision series apart
The new TCL lineup includes the A400 Pro, A400U and A400 models. The most advanced A400 Pro and A400U variants are equipped with Mini-LED backlighting with up to 1,344 local dimming zones. This solution delivers significantly better contrast and full support for HDR content. Like Samsung The Frame, the TVs can display artworks when switched off, turning the screen into a digital picture. The Art Gallery feature offers access to a collection of works by well-known and lesser-known artists, as well as AI-generated graphics and animated scenes with sound. The A400 Pro gets a matte screen coating to reduce reflections, while the A400U keeps a more classic look and uses an ultra-thin wall-mount system that resembles wallpaper. The most affordable A400 forgoes Mini-LED technology, remaining a more budget-friendly option.
Screens up to 98 inches and rich features for gamers
All three ranges will be offered in sizes of up to 98 inches. TCL has equipped the new TVs with a 144 Hz refresh rate, support for Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, Google TV, Filmmaker Mode and HDMI 2.1 ports enabling 4K at 120 Hz with VRR. Sound is handled by Onkyo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. However, the manufacturer has opted not to support the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect feature. In terms of picture quality, the new models are said to outperform Samsung The Frame TVs thanks to advanced Mini-LED backlighting. TCL still lags behind Samsung in the number of licensed artworks available in the digital gallery. Nevertheless, the company is clearly showing it intends to make a stronger push into the premium designer TV segment.
The new TCL Nxtvision series is set to be one of the most interesting alternatives to Samsung The Frame. The combination of elegant design, an art gallery feature and advanced Mini-LED backlighting means the new models could appeal to both fans of great picture quality and lovers of modern interiors. The TVs are gradually going on sale in selected markets.
