Subnautica 2 is gearing up for one of the biggest debuts of this year. The developers from Unknown Worlds Entertainment have confirmed that the game has already surpassed 5 million wish list registrations on Steam even before the Early Access launch, which kicks off on 14 May 2026.
Subnautica 2 could be one of the biggest hits of 2026
The new installment of the popular survival series has been at the forefront of the most anticipated games on Steam for quite some time. The studio has also launched the pre-sale of the game and published the official system requirements. Compared to the first part, the production will be significantly more technically demanding. To run the game at 1080p with 30 FPS, players will need, among other things, 12 GB of RAM. The creators also promise a substantial visual leap compared to the previous installment, new gameplay systems, and an even greater emphasis on exploring the underwater world.
The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass
In recent months, there has been a lot of buzz around Subnautica 2 not only because of the game itself but also due to the conflict between the studio's owner, Krafton, and the co-founders of Unknown Worlds. Ultimately, the situation has been resolved, and the studio is able to return to preparing for the launch. The developers emphasise that Early Access will be developed in collaboration with the player community. The studio plans regular updates and further expansions of the game after its launch. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Subnautica 2 will also be available on Xbox Game Pass for Ultimate subscribers from the day of its debut.
Subnautica 2 is already generating huge interest before its release and could become one of the biggest PC hits of 2026. Over 5 million wishlists on Steam show that players are eagerly awaiting a return to the underwater world of survival.
