Valve has confirmed that it is working on the Steam Deck 2, but don't expect a specific release date any time soon. The company clearly states that it doesn't want to release new hardware just to make it a bit faster than the predecessor.

Valve is not interested in improving performance by a few dozen percent if it doesn't lead to a real change in user experience. The current issue is the availability of suitable chips. The company is waiting for technologies that will allow for greater power without compromising battery life. This balance is expected to be key for the new generation of the device.
The current Steam Deck is starting to age
The first Steam Deck debuted in 2022, and later it received an OLED version. Although it still handles many games, it increasingly struggles with newer titles, particularly in terms of performance and battery life. This raises high expectations for its successor.
