Samsung Display used Gamescom 2026 to announce another interesting panel for gamers. The company showed its first 25-inch QD-OLED panel, more precisely a 24.5-inch model. This is the smallest OLED panel of this type Samsung has prepared so far. The panel was designed primarily with FPS gamers and the esports scene in mind. It offers specifications that could make future 25-inch QD-OLED monitors an attractive alternative to fast LCD screens.
Samsung has prepared the smallest QD-OLED for gamers
The new Samsung panel measures exactly 24.5 inches, although by market conventions it will be sold as a 25-inch model. It is a flat screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. That resolution may seem modest compared with the increasingly common 4K monitors. In this case, the priority is not maximum image detail but speed. The panel can run at a refresh rate of up to 560 Hz. Response time is rated at just 0.03 ms. These specs have been developed primarily with fast-paced FPS games in mind. Samsung Display points to the esports segment as one of the main targets for the new panel. It is also the smallest OLED panel intended for monitors to appear in manufacturers’ line-ups to date. Samsung plans to begin mass production of 24.5-inch FHD QD-OLED panels before the end of 2026. The first finished monitors using this technology are expected to go on sale in early 2027.
RGB Stripe, HDR and 1800 nits in a small monitor
One of the key features of the new panel is the use of an RGB Stripe pixel layout. Samsung Display opted for this solution, unlike the 25-inch Tandem WOLED panel developed by LG Display. The panel also offers 10-bit colour depth. DCI-P3 coverage is said to be 99 per cent. The manufacturer also claims a peak HDR brightness of up to 1800 nits. That's a very high figure for a monitor this small. Samsung has also applied a matte coating, which should perform better in brightly lit rooms. At the same time, this is intended to help maintain good black levels. The new panel will not be just a technology demo, as Samsung Display is already talking with PC makers interested in using it. So far Asus has officially confirmed plans to make a monitor based on this panel. Potential makers also mentioned include MSI, Dell, Gigabyte and Samsung Electronics, but their involvement has not yet been officially confirmed. If the announcements are realised, the first monitors with a 25-inch QD-OLED will hit the market in early 2027.
