MOREFINE has showcased a new eGPU that could significantly disrupt the mobile gaming segment. The G2 model is a compact graphics station that houses a desktop GeForce RTX 5060 Ti card and allows it to be connected to a laptop or handheld device. The whole unit is surprisingly small for such equipment, yet it offers a considerable performance boost.
Thunderbolt 5 and OCuLink Make a Difference
The biggest change is the support for Thunderbolt 5, which significantly increases bandwidth compared to older standards. As a result, eGPU is no longer as heavily limited as before and can better harness the potential of the graphics card. Alternatively, there is also the OCuLink port, which offers a similar level of performance and even greater connection stability.
Of course, it still doesn't match the full power that a card would achieve in a traditional PC with full PCIe, but the difference compared to older eGPUs is noticeable. For laptop users, this means a real increase in FPS in games and better performance when working with graphics or AI.
Power of a desktop in a mobile form
