ROG Xbox Ally X with a new feature. Highlight Reels now available for Xbox Insiders

Calendar 3/3/2026

Microsoft launches a new feature for ROG Xbox Ally X users. From today, members of the Xbox Insider Program can test Highlight Reels, which are automatic highlights of the most exciting moments of gameplay. This new feature is available through Game Highlights (Preview) on the game page in the Xbox app on PC and does not require any additional installations.

Automatic clips without leaving the game

Highlight Reels allows you to automatically record the most important moments of victory, epic boss battles, or key actions without interrupting gameplay. The system works in the background, and after the session ends, it generates a ready-made highlight that can be watched and shared.

In the initial phase of testing, the feature supports selected titles, including:

  • Forza Horizon 5

  • Overwatch

  • Elden Ring

  • Fortnite

  • Among Us

  • Lies of P

  • Palworld

Microsoft announces that the list of compatible games will be expanded based on testers' feedback.

How to enable Game Highlights?

To take advantage of the feature, you need to:

  1. Join the Xbox Insider program.

  2. Enable background recording in the Game Bar settings (Settings > Gaming > Captures).

  3. Launch a supported game.

The system will automatically save clips during gameplay, and a finished highlight reel will appear in the Xbox PC app. Microsoft encourages users to share feedback through the Xbox Insider Hub and the program's subreddit. It is based on this feedback that the company plans to develop the feature and expand its capabilities. The novelty fits into the trend of simplifying the process of sharing gameplay – without manual editing or additional tools.

Highlight Reels on the ROG Xbox Ally X is another step towards automated gameplay content creation. The feature runs in the background and generates ready-made clips that can be quickly shared. For now, it's a test for Insiders, but if the solution proves successful, it may reach a wider audience of Xbox users.
