Nvidia releases a new Shield update. Disney+ finally works smoothly!

Calendar 11/13/2025

Nvidia Shield gets the 9.2.2 update! Improved Disney+ audio, accessibility upgrades and smoother performance. Check out what’s new.

For the last few months, some users felt that Nvidia had completely given up on developing its Shield TV device. The absence of new models, the system stuck on Android 11, and the arrival of competitive devices like mushrooms after rain. Meanwhile, the manufacturer – somewhat quietly – continues a series of smaller updates. And we've just received another one.

The update Shield Experience 9.2.2 is now rolling out to devices, and although it does not bring any spectacular changes, it resolves several real issues that had been troubling users. The most important fix? Audio bug fixes in Disney+, which had been a nuisance for some time.

In practice, version 9.2.2 replaces the update 9.2.1 from May 2025, which added, among other things, support for GeForce Now at 1080p at 120 fps, as well as several other improvements. However, there is still a lack of any leaks regarding a new Shield model. This is particularly strange since Nintendo has already released the Switch 2 – based on the same hardware platform that Shield TV has been using for years. In other words – the hardware is aging, but at least updates are still alive.

Nvidia Shield Experience 9.2.2 – full changelog

Improvements

  • Shield TV is now more accessible for people with disabilities – visual fixes and better cooperation with assistive technologies.

  • Added a sound signal indicating pairing of the remote and controller – both during initial setup and in the settings.

  • New feature Bounce Keys.

  • Implementation of Accessibility Key Repeat.

  • Added settings for accessibility timeout.

  • Support for TalkBack TTS in 23 European languages.

Fixed bugs

  • Issue with audio dropouts in Disney+.

Nvidia Shield isn't getting new system features, isn't upgrading to a newer Android, and is still running on a very old SoC – but it's still being updated, which is already a rarity in the world of Android TV boxes. Shield Experience 9.2.2 is a typical "maintenance update", but if you're using Disney+ – you'll notice the difference straight away.
