Netflix is launching more premieres, and among them is something for fans of sci-fi, drama, and dark thrillers.

Calendar 4/13/2026

Netflix isn't slowing down and is adding more titles to its library that cater to a variety of viewer tastes. From spectacular science fiction, through more down-to-earth drama, to a dark thriller with a Nordic vibe, the latest announcements show that the platform is still heavily investing in diversity. This time, three productions are on the radar: Supernova Genesis, Legends, and the return of one of the most unsettling series of recent years, The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek.

Cosmic Spectacle and Drama with Ambition

The most impressive offering seems to be Supernova Genesis, a sci-fi production that focuses on a grand scale and spectacular effects. The trailer suggests a story of survival and discovering the unknown in the context of a cosmic disaster, where the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. Netflix is clearly targeting fans of spectacular productions like “Interstellar” or “The Expanse,” providing a big budget, tension, and visual grandeur. In a completely different direction is Legends, which appears to be a more intimate, emotional series focused on characters and their stories. The trailer hints at a tale of people with pasts whose fates begin to intertwine in unexpected ways. This type of production may not make as strong a visual impact, but it compensates with atmosphere, dialogue, and building tension between the characters.

Return of one of the strongest thrillers

However, the most excitement may come from The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek, which is the continuation of one of the darkest thrillers on the platform. The first season received immense acclaim for its atmosphere and brutally realistic approach to the subject of a serial killer, and the new installment promises to be even heavier. The trailer suggests a return to a case that hasn’t been fully closed, as well as even more disturbing puzzles. Netflix is clearly focusing on dense atmosphere, tension, and psychological games with the viewer, which should particularly appeal to fans of Nordic noir. If the sequel maintains the level of the first part, it could be one of the strongest series premieres this year.

Three new productions show that Netflix is still targeting a broad audience, from spectacular sci-fi to heavy thrillers. The biggest potential for a hit? The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek, but the rest also has plenty to offer.
