Calendar 9/30/2025

LG UltraFine evo 32U990A – the world’s first 6K monitor with Thunderbolt™ 5. Perfect colors, HDR600 and massive workspace for professionals.

LG officially launches something that could dramatically shake up the world of professional monitors – UltraFine evo 6K (32U990A). It’s the world's first 6K monitor equipped with the new Thunderbolt™ 5 standard, designed with video creators, graphic designers, and anyone working on the most demanding workflows in mind.

6K clarity and studio-level colours

The new UltraFine evo offers a resolution of 6,144 × 3,456 pixels on a 32-inch HiDPI panel, resulting in a density of 224 PPI. The effect? Text is sharper, and image details are more precise than ever. The monitor is factory calibrated for macOS, and the coverage of 98% DCI-P3 and 99.5% Adobe RGB ensures accurate colour reproduction when working on film, graphics, or print materials. Additionally, it features VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification and a Studio Mode with colour presets tailored for Macs.

Thunderbolt™ 5 – the future of connectivity

The biggest game-changer is the support for Thunderbolt™ 5, which offers transfer speeds of up to 120 Gb/s in one direction – three times more than Thunderbolt 4. As a result, the monitor becomes a central hub for SSD drives, eGPUs, and other devices. Real-time rendering in 4K? Fast transfer of RAW 8K files? This hardware is designed for such scenarios.

Massive workspace and multi-monitor

LG emphasises that 6K provides 2.5× more pixels than standard 4K. And if we place two such monitors side by side, we get almost 5× more workspace than a single 4K – and that’s with the possibility of simple daisy chaining thanks to Thunderbolt™.

Hub for professionals, Design and ergonomics

UltraFine evo 6K features a built-in KVM switch and a rich set of ports, making it easy to switch between Mac and Windows systems. This is equipment designed for multitasking and hybrid workflows.

The monitor boasts a minimalist look – 4-sided borderless design provides an immersive viewing experience. Add to this tilt and pivot adjustments, which will be appreciated by those creating vertical formats – such as Reels or Shorts. Fewer cables, a cleaner desk, and greater flexibility in configuration are further bonuses resulting from Thunderbolt™ 5.

Availability

The model LG UltraFine evo 32U990A will first appear at the end of September in South Korea and Japan, and will make its way to Europe and the USA in October.

This is a milestone – LG is introducing a new category of monitors called “UltraFine evo”, setting the bar even higher than the previous 5K UltraFine monitors for Mac users. If you are a professional working with demanding materials, this is likely to be one of the most interesting monitors we will see in 2025.
