LG is expanding the capabilities of its OLED TVs by introducing a new picture mode designed for cinematic productions. The feature, called Creator Original, will let film studios tailor picture settings to their own artistic vision. LG says the solution offers more control than the existing Filmmaker Mode. The new feature was developed in collaboration with Amazon Prime Video and will initially be available only on that platform. It will be available to owners of selected OLED TV models from 2026. The first rollout will coincide with the release of a new film on Prime Video.
Creator Original gives studios greater control over picture quality
The new Creator Original mode will be made available on LG OLED evo TVs in the C6, C6H, G6 and W6 series via a software update. According to the manufacturer, the feature was created to reproduce filmmakers’ intentions even more faithfully. Unlike Filmmaker Mode, the new mode does not just switch off extra processing. Creator Original lets you use settings prepared directly by film studios and content creators. These can include, among other things, shadow detail levels, colour balance, noise reduction and the way motion is rendered. That means each film can get an individually prepared picture configuration. LG says the solution will better convey creators’ artistic vision. The feature will be available exclusively on compatible 2026 OLED models. The manufacturer plans to release it via a firmware update later this month. It’s another step toward more advanced personalisation of picture quality. LG hopes the new solution will interest both filmmakers and demanding viewers. Everything suggests similar technologies may appear from other manufacturers in the future.
Prime Video will be the first to use LG's new feature
Initially, Creator Original will run exclusively in the Prime Video app on webOS. The feature's debut will coincide with the release of the movie Masters of the Universe, which will be the first to take advantage of the new capabilities. LG has not yet said when other streaming platforms will receive support. It's worth noting that a similar solution was previously shown by Sony. The company enabled streaming services to adjust picture settings based on the content being played back as early as 2023. LG is expanding on that idea with Amazon, offering even greater control over display parameters. The new feature will be available only on 2026 OLED evo TVs in the C6, C6H, G6 and W6 series. Older models are not listed as compatible. It is also not yet known whether Creator Original will be made available to other apps or TVs in the future. That will depend on interest from content creators and further LG partners. However, the new mode shows that TV makers are increasingly collaborating with streaming platforms to create cinematic experiences.
