Lenovo is preparing another portable gaming device that stands out for its exceptionally slim build. The new Legion C700 is expected to offer significantly lower weight and thickness than most handhelds currently on the market. The maker has already revealed the device's look and some of its features, but still hasn't disclosed the key details about the hardware. Everything suggests the new model will be designed mainly for cloud game streaming. That could prove to be both its main advantage and its biggest limitation. The release is slated for August this year.
Slim design and modern controllers should be its biggest selling points
The Legion C700 will measure just 14.99 mm at its thinnest point and weigh about 556 grams. By comparison the Legion Go S weighs around 730 grams and the ASUS ROG Ally X nearly 678 grams, making Lenovo’s new model one of the most portable handhelds in its class. The device features a 7.82-inch IPS screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The manufacturer has also used TMR thumbsticks with magnetic sensors to reduce analog stick drift. On board there will also be Hall Effect triggers, a multi-directional d-pad and four programmable buttons located on the casing. That setup is intended to provide comfortable control both for gaming and for streaming services. Lenovo expects the lower weight will translate into greater comfort during long sessions with the device.
The key specs are still a mystery
Despite revealing the look and some of the specs, Lenovo has not yet disclosed the processor, amount of RAM, storage capacity or battery size. These elements will determine whether the Legion C700 can run games locally or will be almost entirely reliant on cloud gaming. The handheld is being developed in collaboration with Tencent and will use the START Cloud Gaming service to stream games from external servers. The partnership with the Chinese giant also suggests the device may initially be sold only on the Chinese market. Lenovo has announced a launch for August 2026, but has not given a price or details on possible global distribution. The device’s success will depend mainly on pricing and whether users accept its strong focus on cloud gaming. The history of similar devices shows that such products tend to appeal mainly to a narrow, niche audience.
Legion C700 looks set to be an exceptionally light, slim handheld for gamers, but its standout feature will be cloud gaming. The lack of information about key components means we’ll have to wait to assess the device’s capabilities. Lenovo is expected to reveal more details ahead of its August launch.
