Lenovo accidentally revealed new laptops with the Nvidia N1X chip. ARM could finally threaten MacBooks.

Calendar 5/26/2026

Nvidia has long been associated mainly with graphics cards, but it appears that the company is preparing a much larger offensive in the laptop market. New leaks suggest that Lenovo is already working on devices using the upcoming Nvidia N1X chip based on ARM architecture. The information emerged accidentally in the manufacturer's internal systems and quickly caught the attention of the tech industry. According to the leaks, the new chip is expected to offer very high performance in both gaming and tasks related to artificial intelligence or video editing. For the Windows on ARM market, this could be one of the most significant launches in recent years. Nvidia clearly wants to create a real competitor to the MacBook Pros with Apple Silicon.

Nvidia is prepping a very powerful ARM chip for gaming laptops

The new Nvidia N1X is set to use a 20-core ARM processor divided into performance and efficiency cores. Additionally, the chip will feature an integrated Blackwell graphics unit with as many as 6144 CUDA cores. That’s exactly the same as what the desktop RTX 5070 offers. According to leaks, the entire setup will be manufactured with a 3 nm process technology and support up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X memory. Lenovo also accidentally revealed the name of one of the laptops using the new chip. It's the Legion 7 15N1X11, suggesting a gaming design based on the N1X processor. If the information is confirmed, this could be the first truly gaming ARM laptop with Windows.

Windows on ARM might finally receive a true breakthrough

The ARM laptop market has been trying to catch up to Apple’s success and its Apple Silicon chips for years. However, the main issues with Windows on ARM have been performance and compatibility with games and drivers. Nvidia may be the first company to actually attempt to combine the energy efficiency of ARM with the power needed for gaming and professional work. The biggest challenge still remains software. Microsoft is heavily developing Windows on ARM, but game compatibility still doesn’t match that of classic x86 laptops. If Nvidia resolves this issue, N1X could become one of the most important chips for the laptop market in the coming years.

Nvidia and Lenovo are apparently preparing a new generation of ARM laptops aimed not only at energy efficiency but also at gaming and professional performance. If N1X meets expectations, Windows on ARM might finally get hardware capable of genuinely competing with MacBook Pros.
