Fans of retro gaming and LEGO bricks have reasons to celebrate. According to the latest reports, before this year's holidays, a set depicting the legendary first Sony console will hit store shelves. This is another step in the expanding collaboration between the two brands, which previously resulted in sets from the Horizon series.
Over 1900 pieces and an iconic controller
A leak from a trusted source known as Lego_Minecraft_Goat suggests that the set will consist of exactly 1911 blocks. The package is expected to include a full-size replica of the grey PlayStation 1 console along with one controller. The estimated price of the set is around $160 (approximately 650-700 PLN), which places it in the category of sets for adult collectors, alongside previously released replicas of the NES and Atari 2600.
TechRadar reports, that the premiere is scheduled for December 2026. Although LEGO has not officially confirmed these reports yet, the previous history of leaks from this source and the increasingly close collaboration between Sony and the Danish company (evident in the release of the game LEGO Horizon Adventures) make the project seem extremely likely.
Easter eggs and the future of collaboration
Collectors expect that, like previous console sets, LEGO PlayStation will conceal numerous “treats” for fans. There is speculation about hidden references to classics such as Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy VII. Fans are also hoping for interactive elements, such as an opening CD drive lid, although the brick construction may pose a significant engineering challenge.
The appearance of the PlayStation console in LEGO's offering could open the doors to more sets based on exclusive Sony brands. The success of the Horizon series in brick form has shown that the potential is enormous, and already on players' wish lists are models from The Last of Us, God of War, and the charming Astro Bot, which fits perfectly with the LEGO aesthetic.
