Honor – a brand that most people mainly associate with smartphones – has just surprised us with a new device. The company has unveiled its first projector, and in quite an unusual style. The Honor Choice Projector Air is a compact, affordable piece of equipment featuring a rotating gimbal, AI-driven gesture control, and… a stylus that allows you to doodle directly on the wall.
Projector that is meant to be cheap, simple, and a bit… creative
Honor is hitting the market with semi-portable projectors at a low price. The Projector Air offers 1080p resolution, 280 CVIA lumens brightness, and a contrast ratio of 2500:1. It’s not meant for watching movies in bright midday sun – rather, it’s a "nighttime" device to be used in darker settings. The maximum image diagonal is 160 inches, and the built-in 5 W speaker provides basic sound. On board, we also have:
– Wi-Fi 6
– Bluetooth 5.0
– HDMI
– 1 GB RAM and 32 GB storage
– Deepseek AI support
– mobile app and remote control
Gimbal 160° and full automation
The most interesting element of the design is the rotating gimbal – the projector can be raised almost vertically, directing the image onto the wall or ceiling. Additionally, there's autofocus, keystone correction, automatic image adjustment, and obstacle avoidance – all so the user doesn't have to do anything other than turn the device on.
AI Gesture Control and Stylus
Two unique additions set Honor Choice apart from the competition. Firstly – gesture control, allowing you to navigate through menus without touching the remote. Secondly – a stylus that lets you… draw on the displayed image.
This is a clear nod to the very old Touchjet Pond projector, which attempted to do the same thing 10 years ago. The effect was amusing back then, and the limitations were obvious – to draw, you had to stand between the projector and the wall, which meant one thing: a shadow falling on the screen. Honor hasn’t solved this problem, as they didn’t opt for an ultra-short throw projector. But let’s remember – this is cheap equipment, and an UST would cost many times more.
Price that makes the biggest impression
And here we get to the point: The Honor Choice Projector Air costs only 499 RMB. That's an absurdly low price for a projector with a gimbal, AI and a stylus. For now, the device will be available for sale in China – it’s unknown whether it will appear in Europe. Conversion of the price to other currencies:
Currency | Price |
|---|---|
USD | ~ 69 USD |
EUR | ~ 63 EUR |
GBP | ~ 53 GBP |
AUD | ~ 105 AUD |
PLN | ~ 275 zł |
Summary – projector for those interested in novelties
Honor is not trying to compete with large laser projectors. The ChooseTV Air is meant to be affordable, simple, and provide new possibilities – especially for those who enjoy playing with technology and do not expect cinema-quality during the day. However, if you dream of a projector with AI and a stylus for the price of two dinners out – then this is definitely one of the most intriguing releases in recent months.
