Artificial intelligence is increasingly making its way into various everyday devices. This time, Google has decided to expand the capabilities of the Gemini assistant on televisions. The new update allows users to control many settings of the device solely by voice. Users no longer have to click through extensive menus in search of the right option. One command is enough for the television to automatically adjust the selected parameters.
Television will automatically improve picture and sound
The new Gemini feature has been designed to simplify the use of the television to the maximum extent. The user can ask the assistant to change the screen brightness, contrast, volume level or activate a specific picture mode. In practice, it’s enough to say that the screen is too dark or that the dialogues are hard to hear. Gemini will analyse the reported issue and automatically adjust the appropriate settings. Google also demonstrates more advanced scenarios for using this feature. For example, you can ask the television to prepare cinema settings for an evening movie screening. The system will automatically select the appropriate display profile and sound parameters. Gemini can also quickly open specific settings sections without the need to manually search for them in the menu. This solution may be particularly useful for less tech-savvy users. Many people do not know all the functions of modern televisions and do not know where to find the appropriate options. Thanks to artificial intelligence, it’s enough to describe the problem in your own words. The television will select the best settings on its own. Google aims to make operating the equipment more intuitive and accessible for every household member.
For now, only TCL, but Google has bigger plans
The rollout of the new feature has started with selected TCL models equipped with Google TV. The update is currently reaching TCL TVs from the 2025 and 2026 series, but is initially only available in the United States. Users can check the availability of the new software directly in the device settings. However, Google has announced that this is not a solution intended solely for one brand. In the coming months, Gemini is also expected to appear on other devices using Google TV. Among the potential candidates are the Google TV Streamer and selected Hisense TVs. The company has not yet provided a detailed schedule for rolling out the update to other markets. However, it is known that by the end of 2026, Gemini is set to be available on a larger number of devices with Android TV and Google TV. The requirement will be the presence of Android 14 and at least 2 GB of RAM. This shows that Google intends to significantly enhance the role of artificial intelligence in home electronics. The TV is gradually set to become not just a screen for watching content but also an intelligent multimedia management hub. The new features of Gemini may be the first step towards an even deeper integration of AI with home devices.
Google has begun rolling out a feature that allows control of TV settings using Gemini. The assistant can independently adjust the picture, sound, and help troubleshoot issues without the need to search through menus. Initially, the novelty is being introduced to selected TCL models in the USA, but in the future, it will be available on a larger number of devices with Google TV. This is another example of how artificial intelligence is increasingly entering everyday use of electronics.
