Elon Musk is creating the first video game generated by artificial intelligence!

Calendar 10/10/2025

Elon Musk announces the first video game created by artificial intelligence. His xAI studio plans to release the revolutionary gaming project in 2026.

xAI wants to revolutionise gaming, and Grok is set to be the engine of a new era of entertainment, with Elon Musk surprising us once again. After electric cars, rockets, and artificial intelligence, it’s time for… video games. His company xAI, mainly known for developing the AI assistant Grok and massive data centres, plans to release the first game fully created by AI as early as next year.

“We’ll make a game like no other”

Studio XAI will release an amazing AI-generated game before the end of next year” – Musk posted on platform X (formerly Twitter). The idea is not random. Musk has long been an avid gamer — he often streams Diablo IV, and his fascination with virtual worlds goes hand in hand with frustration over the “woke agenda” in Hollywood and the gaming industry. This is said to be the reason why the billionaire decided to create “an alternative to politicised entertainment.”

The project began in November 2024, when Musk gathered his own team of game developers.

Gigantic data centres and the power of AI Groka

xAI is not just the Grok assistant competing with ChatGPT, but also a massive computing infrastructure. The first Colossus data centre is already operational, with Colossus 2 set to launch in 2026 and become the world's first gigawatt-powered data centre.

With this, Musk aims to achieve performance in the range of 5–10 exaflops – enough to not only "solve the mysteries of the universe," as he says, but also to generate realistic real-time games.

From Pong to Photorealism

Even now, AI assistants – like Grok or ChatGPT – can create simple games, such as clones of Pong or flight simulators. But Musk is taking it a step further.

The xAI team is experimenting with techniques for generating photorealistic graphics and adaptive worlds that AI could build dynamically while playing.

Ultimately, Grok is designed to independently design entire worlds and levels, and even “play in them” to learn and modify code on the fly – similar to the learning systems in Tesla's autonomous vehicles.

AI enters the gaming industry

It's not just Musk who sees the future in this. Also, Capcom and other major studios are testing AI tools that speed up the game development process. But xAI might be the first to allow AI to become a full-fledged creator, rather than just a developer's assistant.

If Musk keeps his word, the first game created by artificial intelligence will appear before the end of 2026.

Will it be just a technological curiosity, or the beginning of a new era in gaming? It's hard to predict — but one thing is for sure: Musk intends to turn the industry upside down once again.
