Fans of unusual cooperative games will soon get another title that's hard to take seriously. Dumpster Gang lets you play as raccoons whose main goal is to make a mess at night and score valuable loot. Players will be able to break into buildings, rummage through bins and steal all sorts of items. The game has been designed for group play, though it can also be completed solo. The release is scheduled for December 2026, and the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC from day one.
Raccoons head out on a night-time hunt
Dumpster Gang is a sandbox co-op game from indie studio Coyote House Games. In the game players take control of raccoons that prowl the neighbourhood at night looking for food, items and other loot. You can play solo or in a group of up to four. The developers focus on freedom and physics, so ordinary objects can become part of utterly absurd situations. The raccoons can team up to break into buildings and search through rooms. They’ll also come across bins that hide all sorts of treasures. There’s food, rubbish and items you can take back to your hideout. Climbing and using the environment in different ways will also be an important part of the gameplay. Players will have to watch out for a ruthless exterminator who’ll try to stop the animals’ night-time escapades. His presence means carefree rummaging can turn into a dash for safety at any moment. The developers promise a mix of exploration, thieving and chaotic fun with friends. It’s all presented in a strongly humorous tone that suits the game’s unusual concept.
Hideout, loot and even more chaos
Items you pick up during night raids won't just be there to pad your score. Players will be able to take their finds back to their own hideout and use them to personalise it. That way each outing will gradually change the place the raccoons return to after a run. The developers have also prepared various hats that aren't purely cosmetic. Individual hats will have their own abilities to help on future raids, so you'll be able to tailor your loadout to your playstyle. The gameplay will make heavy use of physics and environmental interaction. In practice that means even seemingly ordinary objects can be used during later heists. The project is led by Jake and Sam from Coyote House Games, who bring experience in animation and multiplayer game development. The studio is working with Curve Games, a publisher known for physics-driven and social multiplayer experiences. Dumpster Gang is set to arrive on Xbox and PC in December 2026. Importantly, on launch day the game will be available via Xbox PC Game Pass, so subscribers will be able to try it without buying a separate copy.
Dumpster Gang is one of the more unusual announcements at this year’s Gamescom. The game lets you play as raccoons that work together to raid houses, rummage through bins and run from an exterminator. The production emphasises co-op, physics and plenty of freedom in how you use the environment. Loot you find can be brought back to your hideout and used to personalise it. Dumpster Gang will debut in December 2026 on Xbox and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
