Dell is refreshing its most popular line of office monitors by introducing a 34-inch format. The P3426WEB and P3426WEV models are all-in-one devices designed to completely replace docking stations and external webcams on desks. Importantly, the manufacturer is finally breaking away from the office standard of 60 Hz. Is this the start of a more relaxed approach to working from home?
Clearly smoother operation and 21:9 format
The heart of both monitors is a curved IPS panel with a resolution of 3440 x 1440 px. The switch to a 100 Hz refresh rate is the most significant change in this series – in daily office use, this means significantly smoother scrolling of documents and no "jumpy" cursor effect. Of course, with such a refresh rate, gaming will be much more enjoyable. Dell has implemented an IPS panel here with a contrast ratio of 1500:1, which provides slightly worse blacks than monitors with VA panels while still maintaining good viewing angles.
For people working with multiple windows, the 21:9 format is crucial. It allows for a comfortable setup of two large sheets side by side without the need to purchase a second monitor. The whole thing is complemented by the TÜV Rheinland Comfort 3.0 certification.
Video conferencing and office control centre
In the top frame, Dell has mounted a 5MP camera with a Sony Starvis sensor. In practice, we get QHD quality image that surpasses most integrated webcams in laptops. The camera supports Windows Hello login (facial recognition). The monitor has received Microsoft Teams and Zoom certifications.
So what’s the difference between the two models? It comes down solely to sound: the P3426WEB has built-in 5W speakers and AI noise-reducing microphones (whatever AI means 😉), while the WEV variant lacks them.
Monitors also function as full-featured docking stations. Thanks to the USB-C connection with 90W Power Delivery, one cable is enough to transmit the display from a laptop while simultaneously charging it. Additionally, the built-in KVM switch allows you to control, for example, two computers using the same mouse and keyboard.
Prices and availability:
Currently, both models can be found in the official manufacturer's store in the American market. For now, the monitors are still unavailable in the official Polish distribution, but it's probably just a matter of a few days until you can purchase them from local distributors.
