We don’t have good news for viewers and gamers using Amazon Prime Video in Poland. The giant from Seattle has officially raised subscription prices — and quite significantly. Users need to prepare for higher expenses, although the service still remains one of the cheapest in the SVOD segment.
New prices in Poland – significant increases
From the start of 2026, Amazon is introducing new rates in our country:
monthly subscription rises from approx. 10.99 zł to 15.50 zł,
annual subscription increases from 49 zł to 69 zł.
This is more than a 40% price jump – the first such change since Amazon Prime entered the Polish market in 2021. For new customers, the increase has already been implemented, while those who previously purchased a subscription can still enjoy the earlier rates for a certain period. Amazon has officially confirmed the price change – although some services initially claimed it was a “website error”. However, the increase has eventually become a reality for new customers.
What does this mean for viewers?
The price increase is painful – especially when many Australians have gotten used to exceptionally low rates, which were a rarity in the market. Nevertheless:
even after the increase Prime remains one of the cheapest SVOD offers in Australia,
the package still includes not only Prime Video but also Prime Gaming and other Amazon Prime perks, such as free shipping and shopping promotions.
The question is whether, with such a significant price jump, some subscribers will start wondering whether it’s worth paying for all the packages – or whether they might consider cheaper alternatives.
Australia is not alone – the entire streaming market has been experiencing price increases for years. Amazon is part of this, although the pace of change and their scale varies between countries.
In other countries, Amazon is also getting more expensive
In many European and global markets, the Prime subscription has already increased:
In Germany, the price of an annual Amazon Prime subscription has increased by about 30% and is now approximately €89.90 per year,
In the United Kingdom, the annual subscription costs about £95 – also after the price hikes.
This shows that Amazon has long been adjusting prices to local economic conditions and operational costs in its key markets. Price increases for VOD services are a trend that has clearly accelerated in recent years. Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and others regularly raise their rates, citing rising production costs and investments in new content. Thus, the era of cheap streaming, to which viewers had become accustomed, is increasingly coming to an end.
Amazon is also following this path, although it does so differently in various markets. In some countries, such as India, additional fees have appeared for watching ad-free content, demonstrating that platforms are increasingly boldly testing new pricing models. Although prices in Poland are still relatively low, the global trend is clear – streaming is becoming more expensive.
Amazon in Poland: from cheap leader to more expensive rival
The price hike for Amazon Prime Video in Poland is bad news for fans of movies, series, and games who were hoping to maintain low rates. Although the service still has a very attractive price compared to the competition after the change, the scale of the increase may prompt many to rethink their streaming budget. It’s worth remembering that this is part of a broader trend: streaming platforms around the world are adjusting prices to rising costs – and it doesn’t seem like this will be the last increase in this segment.
