3 strong films on Netflix that are worth watching - horror, thriller, and survival in one package

Calendar 3/30/2026

Netflix regularly adds productions to its library that can hook you from the very first minutes and don’t let go until the very end. Among them are titles that aren’t necessarily new, but still make a huge impression and keep returning in recommendations. If you’re looking for something intense for the evening, these three films are definitely worth checking out.

Verónica

This film is one of the strongest horrors available on the platform. The story focuses on a teenager who, during a séance, tries to contact her deceased father. It quickly becomes apparent that something has gone very wrong and the girl begins to experience terrifying phenomena in her home. The production stands out for its atmosphere and gradual build-up of tension instead of cheap jump scares. The whole thing is based on a true case from Spain, which only heightens the feeling of unease. It’s a horror that seeps into your head more than it scares you forcefully.

The Platform

It's one of those films that stay with you for a long time. The action takes place in a vertical prison where food descends on a platform from top to bottom. The lower you are, the less chance you have of surviving. The film is simple in premise but very strong in message. It reveals human nature in extreme conditions and does not shy away from brutal scenes. It's more than just a thriller – it's a social commentary that forces you to think and leaves the viewer with uncomfortable questions.

Nowhere

Here we have a completely different atmosphere, but equally intense. The film tells the story of a woman fleeing a country engulfed in crisis, who ends up in a container drifting across the ocean. She is left alone, without help, reliant solely on herself. It’s a tale of survival that focuses on the emotions and physical exhaustion of the protagonist. A claustrophobic atmosphere and a sense of hopelessness, which grows with each passing minute, play a significant role. The film shows how far a person is willing to go to survive.
