3 obvious but underrated films on Disney+ that are worth catching up on

Calendar 2/16/2026

Not every good film has to be a global phenomenon. In the Disney+ catalogue, you’ll find plenty of productions that were “big” but quickly faded from discussion. It’s often these titles that surprise you the most. They’re polished, have a budget and big names, yet they didn’t become viral hits. If you’re in the mood for something solid but less worn out – here are three safe, good choices.

Jungle Cruise

An adventure film in the style of classic "Indiana Jones," but lighter and more family-friendly. The film featuring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt didn't become a major event, but it's a very enjoyable, dynamic production with humour and the vibe of an exotic expedition. Perfect for a relaxed evening without any pretension.

The Finest Hours

A dramatic disaster film based on true events. The film tells the story of one of the most spectacular rescue missions at sea. Without excessive pathos, but filled with tension and very solid production. Few remember it today, yet it is truly compelling cinema.

The Kid Who Would Be King

A modern twist on the legend of King Arthur aimed at a younger audience. The film went largely unnoticed, but it's a fresh, well-made adventure with a great energy and decent humour. A fantastic option if you're after something lighter, but not childish.

These aren't the biggest hits on Disney+, but each of these films offers solid entertainment. "Jungle Cruise" is pure adventure, "The Finest Hours" provides fact-based tension, and "The Kid Who Would Be King" is a fresh take on a well-known legend. If you're tired of obvious blockbusters, these titles might pleasantly surprise you.
