Netflix is releasing more strong premieres, and this time the platform is mixing sporting emotions, a mysterious thriller, and a massive women's MMA showdown. Among the new releases, there are both documentary productions and series with a sci-fi vibe and tension reminiscent of the best thrillers. Here are three fresh premieres that just received official trailers and could really shake things up in the coming weeks.
1. Brazil ‘70: The Third Star
Netflix takes viewers into the world of one of the most legendary football teams in history. “Brazil ‘70: The Third Star” tells the story of the Brazil squad from the 1970 World Cup, a team regarded by many as the greatest football team of all time. The series showcases not only the journey to winning the championship but also the political and social backdrop of that era. Netflix is clearly trying to create a series that is more based on atmosphere and tension than on action alone. If it maintains the tone of the trailer, it could be one of the more interesting premieres on the platform this year.
3. Countdown: Rousey vs. Carano
Netflix is increasingly investing in sports documentaries, and this time it's focusing on two major stars of women's MMA, Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano. “Countdown: Rousey vs. Carano” explores the behind-the-scenes of their careers, their impact on the development of women's MMA, and the media rivalry that changed the sport forever. The trailer suggests plenty of archival footage, interviews, and a very dramatic tone. Netflix clearly aims to make this not just a sports documentary, but also a story about fame, pressure, and the building of women's positions in the brutal world of combat sports.
