The Microsoft company announced a major update for gamers using computers. In April, a new Xbox Mode will appear in Windows 11, which aims to change the way games are used on PC. This new mode will transform the computer into something resembling an Xbox console. Once activated, the user will see a full-screen interface optimized for a controller, meaning that there will be no need to use a mouse or keyboard.
PC will function like a console
Xbox Mode is set to offer a simplified interface for browsing the game library, launching titles, and using features such as Xbox Game Bar. The entire setup has been designed with large screen gaming in mind, such as a living room TV. Microsoft aims to combine the convenience of a console with the openness of the PC platform. This solution was previously tested on devices like the ROG Xbox Ally, which are portable gaming computers running Windows.
The new mode will also be closely linked to the Xbox Play Anywhere service. The program currently includes over 1500 games that can be played both on Xbox consoles and PCs. As a result, game saves, achievements, and progress will sync across different devices. A player can start gaming on a console and later continue on a computer or laptop.
Xbox Mode could be one of the biggest changes in PC gaming in years. If Microsoft fulfills its assumptions, computers with Windows 11 will be able to function almost like consoles, offering a simple interface, controller support, and quick access to the game library. For many gamers, this could mean much more convenient gaming on PC, especially in the living room on a large screen.
