Microsoft officially announced a new event for developers that will take place on May 7 and may bring the first concrete information about the future of Xbox. The Game Dev Update is intended to be part of the company's new strategy focused on opening the platform and providing better support for game creators. However, the most interesting point of the program for gamers will be the presentation of Xbox Helix, the next generation console planned for 2027-2028.
Project Helix and the Direction for PC
During the event, Microsoft is expected to reveal more details about Project Helix, a project that aims to connect the worlds of consoles and PC even more than before. It has already been suggested that future Xbox consoles will more strongly integrate features known from computers, such as enhanced support for DirectX and DirectStorage. Now we can see how this will look in practice and how it will impact game development.
