And while it sounds like a joke, there is an interesting theory behind it that circulates among gaming fans.

It refers to the so-called “Jennifer English effect,” which is the theory among fans that games featuring Jennifer English tend to gain immense popularity and awards. The actress appeared in hits such as Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – productions that have truly dominated their years. It is this “common denominator” that has led players to see her involvement as a kind of quality mark.
Will Marathon benefit from this as well?
During a panel at the industry event, Starr jokingly stated that if this "rule" works, then Marathon has a good chance of success. Of course, reality is more complex – in the race for GOTY, gameplay, execution quality, and player reception matter. Especially since Grand Theft Auto VI looms on the horizon, which could dominate the entire year.
