WhatsApp introduces a tool called "Writing Help" that suggests ways to improve message writing – enhancing tone, style, and clarity of the text, while also ensuring user privacy.
How does it work?
Just type a message and tap the pencil icon next to the text field. AI will suggest several versions – from professional to humorous, supportive, or simply corrected for errors. You can choose a suggestion or stick with the original. Importantly, the recipient does not see that the text was edited by artificial intelligence.
Privacy First
Meta boasts its own technology "Private Processing." Content is encrypted, transmitted anonymously, and not stored on servers. The company emphasizes that neither employees nor third parties have access to messages – and suggestions return without leaving a trace. The feature only works after it has been enabled in the settings.
For Business and Everyday Conversations
WhatsApp is increasingly being used for work or for contacting clients, especially through WhatsApp Business. The new feature is designed to help sound more professional, as well as to quickly correct typos or grammar – which can be especially useful when writing in a foreign language.
Availability
"Writing Help" is launching in English on Android and iOS in the USA and several other countries. Meta announces plans to expand to additional languages and regions later this year, although no release date has been provided yet for Polish, for example.
WhatsApp is thus joining Telegram, Google, and Microsoft, which are also developing their own AI in messaging apps. If the idea takes off globally – the way we write messages on a daily basis may change significantly.
